Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!
I know this holiday’s origins are controversial *cue Iron Maiden’s “Run to the Hills”* but I hope you all have a wonderful holiday spending time with your loved ones!
If, like me, you’re preparing for finals, take a break today & try to de-stress – I’m sure you deserve it!
Enjoy your day, eat lots of delicious food, & leave me a comment letting me know how you celebrated!
Sorry for the late notice but this week’s SBC, “Turn Of Mind” by Alice LaPlante, will be postponed until next week! I’ve been on many adventures this weekend that you will see recapped soon & unfortunately don’t have time to put the post up. Many apologies! Lo siento! I’m sorry!
Mom, me, Danny, & Aunt Millie at the West Edge Opera in Oakland
Hello everyone! As some of you can probably tell, I try to keep this blog not that focused on my personal life. If you’re looking to get a more in depth peek at my life, please feel free to follow me on Instagram/SnapChat/Twitter: @MissAl_Leigh. All 3 of those accounts are @MissAl_Leigh, but that particular link will take you to my Instagram. With that being said, I wanted to take a moment to share with you in more detail what’s been going on with me over the last few weeks & explain why I haven’t posted as much. First off, I am currently on the hunt for a new car. My mom was in a really bad hit and run while driving my car & tragically, Little Indy was totaled 😦 Thankfully my mom is fine though! Trying to find a car that can live up to the glory of my Scion xB has proven to be very challenging & taking way more time than it probably should.
Goodbye Little Indy 😦
Second, I have moved back to Southern California – at least for the summer. As I mentioned in a previous post, I am working with Coast Concierge Services as an Event Planner. My position there will most likely be ending in August so staying in Southern California all depends on me finding another position in the area. Truthfully, I could live anywhere at this point, so we’ll see what happens. If anyone knows of any positions I would be a good fit for, please let me know! 🙂 Third, I graduated from Chapman University at the end of May with my Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies. I found that Communication Studies was more academically focused than I’d like my career to be. I would like to work in the Entertainment or Non-Profit Industry doing Event Planning, Promotions, Public Relations, Publicity, Social Media Management, etc, something along those lines. I celebrated this accomplishment with friends and family from near and far in SoCal and Las Vegas! Check out the slideshow below for some pictures from the celebration!
The last thing I was distracted by was my 25th birthday! Yay milestones! Here’s a few pics from the NorCal family celebration my mom threw for me.
So there you have it! That’s what I’ve been up to – distractions galore! I’ll get back on track & talk to y’all soon! Thanks for reading!
I’m sorry I’ve been slacking on posts lately, just been really busy and technology has not been kind to me. It’s exhausting trying to figure out how to format all the pictures and videos on here from my iPhone – but I’ll learn!…someday. So to keep the 4 of you who read this blog kind of entertained, I’m gonna post up a late post, something I wrote on FB in “honor” of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Hope you guys find this at least interesting, hopefully thought provoking too. Let me know…
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and this is a cause I’ve decided to become more vocal about. *begin rant*
Never let anyone that “loves” you make you feel unsafe, unwanted, or unloved, especially when they turn around and tell you it’s YOUR fault they treat you badly. No one is holding them back, making them stay, if you’re such an issue in their lives, why don’t they leave? The answer: You’re not the problem. They are. Their mindset, attitude, and actions are the problem. Not you. No one deserves to be made to feel like they’re worthless. There are a million other things I want to say, but the bottom line is, love is out there & it does not look like anything I mentioned above.
Be good to the person you’re with, the heart, mind, and spirit are so fragile, and they’re trusting you to take care of them. More importantly, I know this is can be so challenging but, be good to yourself, recognize when someone is disrespecting you to the utmost degree and get out! MOST importantly, if you ever have the chance to help someone suffering from domestic violence, please help them. Sometimes people can’t see their own worth because they’ve been put down for so long & they need someone else to show them that they deserve better. They may not listen to you right away, but never give up on them.
Love is out there that comes with respect and safety, and the place you should find that kind of love first before you look for it in a relationship, is within yourself. When you respect and value yourself, you won’t depend on other people to feel that way about you. You will be enough. You are enough. Never let anyone tell you otherwise.
In case the 4 people that read this blog have been wondering where I am lately, the answer is HERE! READ THIS!
Yes folks, that’s right – not only do I half assed run this blog, I will also be contributing to tnt-tauna.com for Accessories, Style, DIY, Beauty, and other related topic posts.
I applied to be a blogger for TNT Tauna after seeing her post on my school’s FB page. I figured I needed more blogging experience and a chance to work on my promoting skills, so here we are. 🙂 Besides the blog, TNT Tauna also runs a production company called Dynamite Editorials that brings together photographers, makeup artists, stylists, hair stylists, models, etc, and they create editorial photoshoots for publication, portfolio use, and promotion. I’ve learned a lot from Tauna so far and I can’t wait to see where this new path leads me!
My upcoming post for tnt-tauna.com will be an Event Recap of the Haute Curves Fashion Show that I attended during L.A. Fashion Week!
My upcoming post for this blog will be an Event Recap of the Maroon 5 and Kelly Clarkson concert in Mountain View, CA.
Stick around for all that and please follow both blogs!

Hello again Bloggies!
It’s definitely been a loooong time since I’ve posted here. Since I have so few posts from when I originally started this blog in 2011, I’m not sure if I should delete them or not to get a fresh start. We’ll see.
I’m making it one of my New Year’s resolutions to keep up with my blog this year! My main goal is to keep this blog updated at least once a week with a general life update, and also include movie, book, and product reviews as often as I watch a movie, finish a book, or buy a new product. I’ll also try to include crossovers from my Pinterest page, like recipes and DIY’s I try. I’m going to try and educate myself on the finer points of vlogging so I’ll be posting videos here and/or on YouTube to just put myself on camera and possibly post videos of some physical training I’ll be starting. These are my goals, but achieving them is totally dependent on how much time I’m able to devote since I’ll be working over 40 hours a week at my internship.
I’ve decided to make my blog a priority for a few reasons…
Since I’ll be moving back to SoCal again I figured keeping this blog updated regularly would be the best way to keep all my family in the loop about what I’m doing.
When I moved to SoCal last time I didn’t do a great job of writing down the fun things I did in any sort of journal form, which I’m usually pretty good about, so this time around I wanted to have a more concrete way to keep my memories all together…maybe someday I’ll print it all out and publish a memoir! Lol.
3. Education/Career Goals
I’m a Communications major with goals of going into Public Relations, mainly publicity work in the entertainment field. This means at some point I could end up running someone’s Twitter, Facebook, blog, or issuing statements on their behalf. Obviously I have experience running my own Facebook, but that’s not really enough. If all goes according to plan with this blog, it will be evidence that I’m capable of successfully running multiple online social media outlets in a professional and competent manner. Also, recording videos for Youtube will help me gain on camera experience which I feel like will help prepare me for future press conferences and other public speaking forums and editing the videos will help my technological skills.
Well, I think that’s all for now. I plan on uploading a movie review on The Guilt Trip featuring Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand, a book review on The Tiger’s Wife by Tea Obreht, and possibly a video haul of some Christmas gifts, VERY VERY soon!
Until next time…
